At-home language tests and remote proctoring
An at-home test is an official exam taken in a private space under remote supervision. The TOEFL iBT Home Edition uses a human proctor. IELTS Online offers an Academic option in selected countries, and each receiving institution decides whether to accept a result obtained in that format.

An at-home test is an exam you take in a private space while a proctor supervises you remotely. With the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, you take the same test as an in-person candidate under the supervision of a human proctor. ETS explains the two formats.
If you live in a hall of residence, a quiet communal study area may look ideal. For the Home Edition, choose a room you can have to yourself for the whole test and run the equipment check there. If you are considering IELTS Online instead, check whether IELTS offers it in your country and whether your prospective university accepts that version of IELTS Academic.
IELTS Online is available only in participating countries to candidates aged 18 or older. Check availability where you will take the test before booking. For immigration purposes, choose the test required by the immigration authority.
