The ELA score is an official English Language Arts reporting measure from ACT that brings together your performance in ACT English, ACT Reading, and the optional writing assessment. ACT generates this combined score when you complete the essay section in addition to the core literacy tests.
To strengthen all parts of your literacy profile, connect your reading and editing habits directly to your essay preparation. When you analyze how an author structures an argument in a reading passage or how a transition clarifies meaning in an English passage, apply those same organizational techniques in your own practice essays.
Scheduling weekly sessions that rotate among grammar conventions, close passage comprehension, and essay outlining keeps every verbal skill sharp. This balanced approach connects your editing practice and analytical reading with your written expression.
