EXANI-III Scores: Postgraduate Admission and Results
EXANI-III provides assessment information for Mexican postgraduate admission. Candidates receive a score report that reflects responses in the examined areas, while universities and graduate programmes determine how those results fit their selection process. Understand the correct-response marking rule, the result delivery route and the programme's own expectations.

What a postgraduate entrance score can tell you
EXANI-III is used in Mexican postgraduate selection processes. It provides an assessment result relevant to applications for further study, while a programme may also review academic history, research interests, interviews and other application material. The EXANI-III examination guide describes the test. Begin score interpretation by matching your report to the correct sitting and the institution to which you intend to apply.
From marked responses to the result
The official Ceneval FAQ gives 1 point for a correctly answered item and 0 points for an incorrect response. An omitted answer produces zero additional deduction. This makes the count of correct responses useful when reviewing practice, although the issued result and accompanying area information should be taken directly from Ceneval or the requesting institution.
Study notes should preserve the topic associated with every missed question. A raw count can show overall accuracy, while a subject breakdown shows which abilities matter for the postgraduate field. A candidate preparing for a quantitative programme may need a different review emphasis from someone applying in a reading-intensive discipline.
Results and programme decisions
Ceneval’s published EXANI-III guidance communicates scores, with each graduate institution responsible for its selection decision. The result service for a national sitting differs from the procedure for an examination requested by a particular institution. Follow the communication instructions for your own application before interpreting an absent result as an admission problem.
The same guidance recommends a result validity period of 2 years, while allowing institutions to determine another acceptable period. Check the receiving programme’s published requirements before relying on an earlier sitting. Retain the report, identification details and any institution-specific conditions together.
Use the area information for focused preparation
Compare strengths in reasoning, verbal work and the content relevant to your target programme. For each weak area, identify a small set of recurring errors and practise it under timed conditions. When you revisit a practice set, record what changed in accuracy and in the kinds of mistakes made. These observations create a useful preparation plan alongside formal score interpretation.
