MSÜ Military Student Exam Scores and Selection Routes

The MSÜ entrance examination is part of Türkiye's military student selection process. It reports different weighted score types based on standardised test performance, while particular military academy routes also apply separate examination and selection requirements. Candidates should match their official score type to the intended school and keep the subsequent selection stages distinct from the examination result.

MSÜ is the entrance examination used as part of Türkiye’s military student candidate selection process. The examination result is a starting point for the route to a military college or a noncommissioned officer vocational higher school. Because the official report contains multiple weighted categories, your first task is to identify which category applies to the educational route you intend to pursue. The MSÜ examination guide introduces the assessed subjects.

From practice nets to official score categories

In the ÖSYM MSÜ candidate guide, raw performance in each test is calculated as correct responses minus incorrect responses divided by 4. The relevant subtests are then standardised to a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10. Keep your practice answer counts in their own record; the official report uses the institution’s full scoring process.

The same guide defines the weighted score types MSÜ-SA, MSÜ-EA, MSÜ-SÖ and MSÜ-GN, each reported within a 100–500 scale. The test coefficients vary between these categories. The numerical track places different emphasis on mathematics and science from the verbal or equal-weight tracks, so two candidates with similar answer totals may have different outcomes in the category relevant to a particular school.

Read eligibility and score type together

The official scoring criteria require at least 0.5 in raw performance from Turkish or Basic Mathematics before a weighted result is calculated. This minimum is a prerequisite within the calculation rules. Once you have a reported result, the relevant academy’s requirements tell you which score category to review.

For candidates who are deciding among routes, keep a table of each school, the requested category and the stages that follow the examination. Record the official wording rather than choosing a route solely because a score happens to be your strongest.

The examination and further selection

The ÖSYM selection guide sets out further assessment requirements: military college routes also involve the appropriate YKS examinations, while noncommissioned officer vocational higher schools use the relevant TYT route and subsequent selection. The details should be checked for the chosen school and candidate category.

When revising, identify whether mistakes originate in Turkish reading, basic mathematics reasoning, science concepts or social science knowledge. Choose topics in proportion to their importance for the weighted type you need, then revisit previous errors with new questions.
