Colombia Saber 11 Scores: Subjects and Global Index

Colombia's secondary-school examination results show separate subject scores alongside a weighted global result, a percentile and performance descriptions. The global figure gives different weights to the assessed areas rather than treating every subject equally. Reading the subject breakdown and official calculation helps you interpret the result for future academic decisions.

Read the report in layers

The official Icfes Saber 11 results page describes Colombia’s assessment of achievement near the end of secondary school. The Icfes result includes overall performance and information by subject. The exam guide explains the assessed areas. On the issued score report, distinguish each subject score, the weighted global result, the percentile and the descriptors of academic performance. These are complementary measures rather than interchangeable grades.

The Icfes results explanation shows how the global and subject information appears in the official report. Begin by comparing the subjects that matter most for your next educational goal, then use the performance-level descriptions to identify the abilities you need to develop.

From subject scores to the global mark

Under the official Icfes scoring regulation, each subject is reported on a 0–100 scale. Reading, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Citizenship each have a weight of 3; English has a weight of 1. The weighted sum is divided by 13 and multiplied by 5, producing the global score on a 0–500 scale.

The same Icfes rule specifies an exception for candidates who are formally exempt from English: their index uses the arithmetic mean of the other 4 subjects. Use the calculation corresponding to the candidate’s recorded examination status. A private average across all subjects can produce a different result from the official formula.

Percentile and performance level

A percentile describes relative standing in the stated comparison population. The performance level describes the kinds of tasks associated with the candidate’s demonstrated achievement. Keep those explanations alongside the numerical results, especially if two subject marks look similar but reflect very different skill strengths.

For admissions, check what the receiving university or programme requests from the Icfes result. The global score is often an important summary, yet programmes may also examine subject performance or apply further requirements. Use the current institution’s instructions for any conversion or weighting beyond the official Icfes result.

From report to targeted study

Review missed practice questions by subject and competency. A low reading result can involve inference or text structure, while a science result may reflect interpreting experiments or graphs. Focus review on the underlying task instead of treating the global result as your only study target.

Frequently asked questions

Is the global score the simple mean of subjects?

The official calculation gives different weights to subject groups and applies the prescribed scaling step.

What does the percentile add?

It places a result relative to a defined group of examinees, unlike the actual points shown for an individual subject.

Where are my strongest subjects shown?

Look at the official results report's subject marks and performance descriptions alongside the overall index.
