Saber Pro Scores: Generic Modules and Overall Result
Saber Pro is Colombia's assessment of competencies in higher education. Its official results distinguish generic modules from any programme-specific modules and provide a rounded overall score based on the relevant generic assessments. Understand the scoring scale, the English exemption rule and the value of performance-level feedback.

Which results appear on the report?
Colombia’s Saber Pro assesses competencies acquired during higher education. The report can describe generic capabilities across degree programmes and also specific content relevant to particular professions. The Saber Pro exam overview introduces the modules; when reading the score, identify which results are generic and which relate to a special subject area. The overall score is based on the prescribed generic assessment group.
Reading the scale and overall calculation
The Icfes score regulation reports each generic module on a 0–300 scale. The overall result is the rounded arithmetic average of 5 generic modules: Quantitative Reasoning, Critical Reading, Citizenship Competencies, Written Communication and English. A candidate with an approved English exemption has the average calculated using the other 4 generic modules.
This means the overall result reflects the generic assessment procedure rather than a sum of all possible module marks. When comparing reports, check which modules were taken and the relevant exemption status. Keep the individual module values visible so the average can be explained correctly. A programme-specific result should be interpreted in its own context and purpose.
Percentiles and skills information
Alongside the numerical result, the Icfes methodology describes reporting percentiles and performance information. A percentile is a position within the referenced candidate group, and the performance description gives context about the tasks a candidate could carry out. A score alone offers less guidance for revision than a subject breakdown and description of the demonstrated skills.
For higher education or employment decisions, confirm which results the receiving institution considers relevant. An employer may value a specific communication skill, while a university may ask for a particular formal outcome. Use the official report as the starting point for such comparisons.
Turn modules into a revision plan
Analyse which generic module has the most room for development. Separate quantitative mistakes from problems in interpreting complex passages, civic reasoning or written communication. Then practise the relevant task type under conditions resembling the assessment, and review the explanation for each mistake.

Frequently asked questions
Are specific modules added into the generic overall score?
The generic overall calculation follows the official generic-module rule; programme-specific reports serve a separate purpose.
Why can two candidates have different calculation bases?
The relevant assessment and approved English-exemption status affect which generic modules enter the average.
What can a percentile tell me?
It gives relative standing in the stated comparison group, alongside the numerical module result.
