Make your next session about a result you can see. You could explain the meaning of a difficult sentence, improve the support in a paragraph or record a spoken answer with a clearer example. Keep the original task with the result so that your next attempt starts from something you have already learned.
Match the task to your chosen IELTS version
IELTS explains in its test overview that Academic and General Training share Listening and Speaking while Reading and Writing differ. Put the version required for your goal beside your study checklist. Use that label when choosing materials and keep the prompt with each written response you save.
Move from an idea to a clear answer
Before writing, identify what the task asks you to explain. State your main point and the detail that will support it. After drafting, read the paragraph as a connected argument: does each sentence help the reader understand the point? Make the connection explicit where the explanation feels incomplete.
Use the same care in spoken practice. Record an answer, listen for the main idea and decide whether your example helps explain it. Repeat the response with a clearer link between the point and the example. After reading or listening practice, identify the passage detail or phrase supporting your interpretation and write a short explanation in your own words.
Sample 6-week plan
Weeks 1–2: create space for each skill
Choose 4 blocks of 30 minutes around lectures, work and travel. Give Monday to listening, Tuesday to reading, Wednesday to writing and Thursday to speaking. Reserve a 45-minute session on a quieter day to return to unfinished tasks. Prepare the materials before the block begins and finish by naming the next useful correction.
Weeks 3–4: practise the difficult connection
Use the first 10 minutes of each block to revisit a previous difficulty. In reading, explain how the detail supports the answer. In listening, return to the phrase you initially misunderstood. In writing and speaking, improve the link between your main point and its support. Give the longer session to the difficulty that keeps appearing.
Weeks 5–6: pair timed attempts with analysis
Use timed tasks for your selected version and put corrections in the next block. Separate misunderstanding the instruction from difficulties expressing the response. Keep a spare 30-minute block for work displaced by a busy day, and use the longer session to decide the following week’s focus.
Make the next task easy to begin
Write an action such as “explain the comparison before choosing an answer” in your weekly study plan. Keep the relevant passage or recording ready. Select IELTS Egypt as your exam in ExamLuma, set a daily study-time goal and start a focus session. Save completed blocks and use weekly statistics to adjust the routine around your commitments.

How can I make a writing session more focused?
Identify the task, write the main point you want to express and choose the support for it. Revise each paragraph by checking how its sentences develop that point.
What should I keep after a reading mistake?
Keep the question, the passage detail supporting the answer and an explanation of why your first choice seemed plausible. Return to that distinction in fresh practice.
