Weekly Study Plan: Organizing Subjects, Practice, and Review

A weekly study plan is a structured schedule that maps your subjects, specific topics, practice sets, and review tasks across the days of the week. Spreading your exam preparation across the week lets you revisit key concepts through spaced learning, balance problem solving with retrieval quizzes, and adjust upcoming sessions based on your recent work.

A weekly study plan is a weekly roadmap that assigns specific subjects, topics, practice sets, and review tasks to each day of your week. Instead of deciding what to study at the last minute, you map out when you will learn new concepts, when you will take retrieval quizzes, and when you will revisit earlier material.

According to the IES study guide, spacing learning across separate days and using retrieval practice helps consolidate knowledge over time. For example, you might schedule linear functions on Monday, switch to reading comprehension on Tuesday, and return to linear functions on Thursday with a short quiz. Each day’s assignment is broken down into a dedicated study block so you know exactly when to start.

Pairing your calendar with regular progress monitoring at the end of the week helps you pick the most useful topics for the coming week.
