Indonesia CPNS SKD scores by test component

Indonesia's civil service SKD assessment reports separate marks for national knowledge, general intelligence and personal characteristics. The last component uses weighted responses, while the others reward correct answers under the published rules. Thresholds and rankings relate to each recruitment category and cycle. Read component scores and the employing agency's current notice together.

The Seleksi Kompetensi Dasar (SKD), or basic competency selection for Indonesia’s civil service, includes different types of assessment. The CPNS examination guide describes preparation and subjects. When reading an official score, start with the three labelled components: TWK, the national knowledge test; TIU, the general intelligence test; and TKP, the personal characteristics test.

How the components accumulate marks

In BKN’s official explanation of the historical SKD scoring scheme, TWK has a maximum of 150, TIU 175 and TKP 225, adding to an overall maximum of 550. The source describes its examination cycle, so the numbers are useful for understanding the published scoring structure while new recruitment periods require their own official regulations.

The same BKN scoring explanation awards 5 points for each correct TWK or TIU answer and 0 for an incorrect or blank answer. TKP uses response weights between 1 and 5, with a blank answer worth 0. TKP therefore calls for attention to the suitability of the response rather than simply counting items marked correctly. Keep the components separate when reviewing the reported result.

Thresholds and rankings vary by recruitment cycle

The BKN information for the 2024 CPNS cycle explains that the SKD includes TWK, TIU and TKP, with the applicable thresholds defined in PANRB Decision 321 of 2024. The conditions for candidates depend on the category and recruitment announcement. A historical maximum and an applicable category threshold answer different questions. Use the regulation for the actual cycle and position you seek.

When checking the result, compare each component against the relevant official criteria before examining total performance. Then review the recruitment notice of the employing institution for any additional tests and ranking arrangements. Eligibility for a later stage and final appointment follow the procedures published for that position, even if the basic assessment is completed successfully.

Turn score information into targeted practice

For TWK, identify whether errors arose from understanding national institutions or interpreting a question’s wording. For TIU, distinguish a reasoning error from a calculation or data-reading mistake. For TKP, record why you selected a response in a workplace scenario and what alternative might fit the task more closely. Reviewing these differences can produce a more useful next study session than tracking the total alone.
