UKMPPD medical competence scores and pass limits

Indonesia's national doctor competence assessment uses computer-based questions and an observed clinical skills examination. The CBT score and OSCE feedback describe different kinds of competence. A pass standard is established for the relevant examination cycle, and its published percentage should be read against that cycle's report. Historical thresholds are examples rather than standing promises.

UKMPPD and the national medical profession competence examination in Indonesia include knowledge assessment and practical clinical performance. The UKMPPD examination overview introduces preparation. A score report needs a more precise reading: distinguish CBT, the computer-based examination, from OSCE, the structured clinical skills assessment. Each part describes a different dimension of readiness for professional practice.

Understand the CBT percentage

The official examination committee FAQ explains that the CBT result is finalised after item analysis and checks of the answer key. The committee then expresses the result as a percentage of correctly answered items that count toward the assessment. A number seen during a practice session is subject to the final scoring procedure, including removal of invalid items and official key adjustments.

Keep your own practice tally and the issued CBT mark in separate records. Practice results can reveal whether you are struggling with clinical reasoning, remembering relevant knowledge or applying the correct approach to a patient scenario. The official result, on the other hand, is the basis for determining your assessment status under the rules applicable to that examination.

Passing standards belong to specific cycles

According to the national committee’s standard-setting explanation, the CBT minimum passing score is established through a process such as Modified Angoff. This involves a defined assessment standard rather than a universal percentage that can be applied to every future group. The relevant result announcement must be consulted before interpreting the pass decision.

As a clearly dated example, the official February 2026 UKNPDPD announcement identifies 66.38% as the CBT minimum passing result and 64.93% as the OSCE minimum for February 2026. These figures belong to that cycle. A participant in another examination period should use the pass limits issued for their own assessment.

Read OSCE feedback as a separate assessment

The official committee’s score FAQ describes the OSCE feedback as a record of clinical competencies. Such reporting can indicate weaknesses in conducting a structured assessment, explaining a clinical decision or carrying out an appropriate procedure. CBT presents a different type of result, based on evaluated answers. Combining the two as if they were interchangeable percentages would obscure their purpose.

When a component requires further preparation, organise practice around its own criteria. For CBT, review the reasoning that led to an incorrect decision. For clinical tasks, examine how the procedure was performed, how the patient interaction unfolded and which steps need clearer execution. Use the institution’s official next-step guidance for eligibility to retake or complete the assessment.
