Egypt EST Scores: Literacy, Math, Essay and Subject Tests

Egypt's Egyptian Scholastic Test, EST, reports different outcomes for its general literacy and mathematics assessment and for specialist subject examinations. Its results use scaled scores, with an optional essay reported separately. Understanding each component makes it easier to compare a candidate's official score report with the particular subject and documentation requirements of the receiving Egyptian institution.

Egypt’s Egyptian Scholastic Test, known as EST, includes a general assessment and separate subject-based tests. The result record is easiest to read when you first identify which form you took and whether the institution expects a general score, specialist subject results or an optional essay mark. The EST Egypt exam guide describes the preparation routes; this page explains the reported values.

Read the Literacy and Mathematics components of EST I

The official Egyptian EST scoring document gives the EST I Literacy score as 200–800 and the Mathematics score as 200–800. Their combined total is reported on a 400–1600 scale. These numbers are scaled test results, so the main score reflects the examination’s published conversion process rather than merely the sum of correct answers.

Keep the two subject results visible when reviewing your strengths. A candidate whose mathematics score is stronger than literacy might choose to review reading inferences or written-language skills, while another may need more work on mathematical modelling. Treat the component results as a guide to future revision.

Raw scoring and the optional essay

According to the EST description document, a correct response earns 1 raw point in the automatically marked sections; a wrong or unanswered response earns zero raw points. Those raw results are then converted to the scaled score report. The difference is important when using practice tests to evaluate progress: the answer tally and the reported scaled result are distinct measurements.

The official essay assessment rules give the optional EST I essay a separate 2–8 score. 3 raters evaluate its comprehension, interpretation and composition, and the median rating is used in the reported outcome. This essay result should be read as its own component when checking a programme’s requirements.

Specialist subject results from EST II

The EST scoring reference assigns each EST II subject its own 200–800 scaled result. A student may take specialist science or mathematics examinations relevant to the intended degree. Keep each subject’s score under its official name when comparing it with a university requirement, since institutions can specify the subjects they accept.

How universities evaluate the record

The Egyptian EST FAQ describes how institutions determine which tests and documents are required by their programmes. The same source describes result use for up to 3 years. Before applying, verify that the appropriate score report covers your chosen subjects and sits within the receiving institution’s acceptable period.

A practical revision log might separate reading comprehension, mathematical procedures and specialist-science concepts. Choose a weakness, work through new examples and review how accurately you used the underlying method.
