TOEFL MyBest scores across test dates

TOEFL MyBest scores combine your highest section scores from valid TOEFL iBT results in the past two years. They appear alongside the scores earned on a single test date. Each receiving institution decides whether to accept this combination, so check the requirements for your particular programme.

TOEFL MyBest scores bring together the highest eligible section scores from your TOEFL iBT results over the past two years. Your report also shows the scores you earned at a single sitting, so the reader can see both sets of results.

Suppose your first test went particularly well in Reading, and your next test produced a stronger Speaking score. Both of those section scores can appear together under MyBest if they are your highest valid results for those skills. When a university application asks for scores from one sitting, look at the test-date section. If it allows MyBest, use the set labelled accordingly.

On a report issued for a test on the current scale, ETS converts eligible older scores before comparing sections. A report for a test taken on the previous scale includes only scores from that scale.

Frequently asked questions

Does MyBest use the best overall test date?

ETS selects each section separately, so the strongest sections may come from different sittings.

Can a result that has expired contribute?

MyBest uses valid scores from the previous two years.

Will every university consider MyBest?

Each institution decides. If the policy is unclear, ask the programme directly.
